A major retail installation expanded from a first phase in 2020 to a significantly larger second phase in 2024.

SolutionPhase 1 parkade Solar PV with generator integration, followed by a rooftop expansion using new structural steel subframes.

Energy / impactPhase 1 recorded an energy saving of 1,910MWh in 2023. Combined phases equate to approximately 35% of Eastgate's daily energy requirement.

ResultAt installation, the combined project was the largest registered rooftop Solar PV installation in South Africa.

ResultAfter Phase 2, the 1.5MWp system was described by Solareff as the largest single rooftop solar installation in Africa and the Southern Hemisphere at the time.
